Guest Post: Anti Aging Beauty Products & Their Myths

Before you buy any anti-aging product, you tend to consult your friends about its effectiveness, as it is always difficult to believe all the beauty products available. You must know about the pros and cons of buying good and bad products, respectively. Moreover, you must know the reason behind your aging skin. Remember, aging is a natural process, but reasons for premature aging are different for everyone and the products to overcome these would also be different. So, clear the myths, if you have any in mind before buying any anti-aging beauty product:

Myth: the costlier the product, the better it is

Truth: It is not important that if the product is expensive, then it is going to be effective on your skin. Dermatologists claim that most important cream for wrinkles is tretinoin, which is  prescribed only by the doctors and cannot be found over-the-counter. More importantly, it is not expensive. It is also present in generic and brand names such as Retin-A and Renova.

Basically, the main ingredient of any wrinkle creams is tretinoin and other ingredients in expensive creams are there to lend a nice aroma and feel to the product. Therefore, it is not true that expensive creams are better.

Myth: Anti-Aging products irritate skin

Truth: are you scared of using anti-aging beauty products because you are afraid of its after effects that could make your skin red, irritated, or flaky?  There is hardly any truth to it, as it doesn’t apply to anti-aging creams only. Most of the anti-aging products are exfoliating, so there is a little peeling but most of these creams are tolerable, if you start slowly and acclimate.

Myth: Once You See Improvement, You Can Stop Using Anti-Aging Products

Truth: You just can’t quit using your anti-aging product once you’ve got the results — reduced wrinkles and the glow. You need to continue using your anti-aging product even after that, in order to maintain them.

Myth: You can stop wearing sunscreen after using anti-aging products

Truth: Most of you have a misconception that if you are using an anti-aging product, you don’t have to apply sunscreen. But the fact is, as you grow old, you tend to get affected by the sun even more and you need to wear sunscreen, whenever you move out. You cannot rely on anti-aging beauty products entirely for protecting you from sun damage. Wearing sunscreen keeps you young and protects you from skin cancer.

Myth: The More Products You Use, the Better

Truth: It is believed that if a little bit is good, more must be better. But in case of anti- aging products, it isn’t that necessary. At higher doses, there are diminishing returns—more products do not improve your skin more. In fact, by using more products there can be an increased risk of irritation, a matter of concern for you. So, avoid using excessive amount of anti-aging beauty products.

These are some facts that you must know before going for anti-aging beauty products. The myths about no effects of anti-aging products on skin have also been debunked through many studies done on these products. Anti-aging  products are quite effective, if you chose them wisely.
