As you age there will be additional wrinkles and crease lines. Some of these are connected with laughing, whilst some are because you have been frowning or worrying too much. As you age the skin loses its elasticity and is unable to spring back to its original shape as easily. This combines with the natural pull of gravity to affect the look and structure of your features. There are also many people who have skin which is blemished through excessive scarring from spots or similar. Historically, the normal treatment to resolve these sorts of issues was facelift surgery. This comes with several risks, as does any surgery. There are now many products available on the market which can have the same effect on your skin without the need for surgery:
Botox has been available for many years and has proved to be one of the most popular forms of non-surgical treatments. A diluted version of the botulinum toxin is injected into the muscles on your face. The effect is to block the signals from the brain which tell the muscle to contract – the cause of skin wrinkles on your face. The treatment is usually affective within two weeks of the injections and should last for approximately six months.
A chemical peel is another very popular method of making the face look younger, fresher and positively glowing. A special, acid based solution is applied to the skin and this removes the top level of cells. It can take several treatments for its effects to be noticed. The skin will appear sunburned for a time afterwards while it heals and this can take up to three months.
There are two versions of treatment with collagen. One involves injecting it into the skin and it works in a similar way to botox. The second method is to apply it via a collagen cream and face mask; it is designed to restore anti aging nutrients into the skin.
Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance which has been found to adhere to the moisture between cells. It is injected directly into the affected area and can be used to plump the skin as well as filling in wrinkles. It is very effective at providing fuller lips and giving sagging skin a lift.
Intense Pulsed Light
This is a special machine which works like a laser but utilizes wavelengths of light. It is used to remove wrinkles and can treat damaged skin. The light causes a reaction in the skin and forces it to remove damaged skin and replace it with fresh skin. This gives a more youthful appearance.
There are several different laser treatments available and the specific one will vary according to your needs, skin type and age. The laser targets skin cells in the specified area and then it removes the top layer allowing fresh, tighter cells to grown and replace the removed ones.
A retinoid is a product which is derived from vitamin A. The majority of these treatments work to unblock pores whilst removing fine lines and wrinkles. They have also been shown to speed cell turnover and this will reduce the effect of sunspots.
Sculptra is a fairly recent addition to the market and has been proven to assist in removing fine lines, wrinkles and even smile lines. As you age your skin loses collagen and this is what can cause the depressed areas on your face and create the signs of aging. This product is a volumizer which is injected into the affected area and removes the wrinkles. It can last for up to two years.
Thermage is a procedure that uses radio frequencies which have been shown to tighten the skin and provide a more youthful appearance. It also stimulates the production of collagen to help the body fight aging. The treatment rejuvenates the skin, and makes the overall complexion look a lot younger and smoother.
As you can see that are numerous types of facial treatments available that claim to provide amazing gain without any pain. Unlike surgery, which comes with a lot of risks, facial treatments are minimally and non invasive. They render great results for extended periods of time without forcing you to recover for 2 weeks.
