As the weekend nears, all you pretty ladies start planning your beauty appointments. While you spend the weekend pampering your skin and getting your purses considerably lighter by paying anywhere between $50-100 for a facial spa, check out these DIY, out-of-your-refrigerator, winter facial masks you can try out at home. These masks cost you less than a dollar!
Yummy ‘Mud Mask’- You need 2 spoons of cocoa powder, ½ a banana, 1 spoon sour Cream, ½ spoon of honey and ½ spoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice. In a bowl, mash the banana and mix all the other ingredients into a smooth paste. Apply and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Wash off with warm water.
This pack combines the moisturizing properties of honey and sour cream with antioxidant-packed cocoa powder (giving the mask its muddy look), some age-defying banana and skin-lightening lemon juice leaving your face moisturized, smooth and winter ready.
Seasons best age-defying face mask- Take 4-5 cubes of pumpkin, 4-5 cubes of Papaya (leave the skin on), half a carrot (peeled and cubed), ½ a spoon of honey. Steam the pumpkin and carrot until they are tender. Blend the pumpkin, carrot and papaya into a paste. Add in the honey. Apply and leave on for about 15-20 minutes. Before washing off with tepid water, gently massage the face with your fingertips in circular movements for maximum effects.
Pumpkins and carrots are winter specials. While pumpkin is loaded with natural exfoliating acids and antioxidants, potassium-rich carrots prevent skin dryness and have anti-inflammatory properties, helping to revitalize and tone the skin. Papayas have enzymes that repair sun damage, reduce age spots and smoothen out fine lines. Honey moisturizes the skin. This mask is great for your skin, making it brighter and naturally polished.
The BIG, FAT, Greek home-facial– You need ½ ripe Avocado, 1 spoon of olive oil and 1 spoon lemon juice. Scoop out the pulp of the avocado and mash it into a smooth paste. Add the olive oil, lemon juice and mix. Apply and leave on for 10 minutes. Wash with warm water.
This is the simplest way to enjoy a Greek facial at home. Avocados and olive oil are rich in antioxidants and are moisturizing. The Vitamin-C-loaded lemon juice helps in fighting acne and improving skin tone. It is a perfect recipe for treating dry winter skin.
