How about that new aftershave? No? Maybe a new tie? Shirt? Bottle of wine? Perfume?
Tired of the same old gifts, that generate the same old reaction, “Oh Wow. Thanks.”? How about trying something different? Something that will be a real surprise for your Dad. Get your Papa to break away from that harsh soap habit, or introduce him to a new Sunday Face Pack. How about a new homemade aftershave?
Here’s how you can surprise dad on Father’s Day!
Peppermint Lip Balm- Can you ever imagine your dad wearing a fruity lip balm with a tinge of pink? That is why most men either use petroleum jelly in case of a “chapped-lip” emergency, or don’t use anything at all. This lip balm is a simple recipe, with minty-fresh overtones, homemade and guy-approved.
Ingredients: 1 tbsp beeswax, 1tbsp shea butter, 2 tbsp sweet almond oil, 10 drops of Peppermint essential oil.
Directions: Melt the beeswax, shea butter and almond oil together in a double boiler. Once melted, take it off the heat and add peppermint oil. Pour into small tins or mini glass jars and let it cool.
Cool cucumber Splash- Get daddy hooked on to this natural, cooling aftershave.
Ingredients: ½ a cucumber, 2 tsp peppermint oil, 2 cups water.
Directions: Blend the cucumber into a thick cucumber sludge. Add the peppermint oil and blend once more. Strain to extract only juice. Add water and cucumber juice to a microwavable bowl and heat for 5 minutes. Store in a sterilized container and refrigerate. This minty aftershave lasts about 2 weeks.
Lavender Tea Spray- You know how men can get lazy when it comes to skin care. Daddies are no different. Out an end to their “I’m too busy excuses” with this great refreshing DIY facial spray. It’s a boon for dad’s who are out in the sun the whole day!
Ingredients: 2-3 Black tea bags, 15 drops of lavender essential oil, 2 tbsp aloevera gel and 1 cup water
Directions: Boil the tea bags in water. Allow to cool and mix in the aloevera and the essential oil. Pour the mix into a spray bottle and refrigerate. The solution will keep for 2 weeks.
Remember the sparkle in daddy’s eyes when you drew him a birthday card? You can expect a similar twinkle when you tell dad that you made these for him! Do something different for Father’s Day this year 🙂
