Good news for all the skin conscious. You don’t have to skip the cocktail hour this Labor Day! Fortunately, modern day beauty experts and dermatologists alike believe that a regulated intake of alcohol will not have an adverse skin impact. In fact, place the right beverage order and you could be doing your skin some real good.
Here are three skin friendly party drinks that you can enjoy guilt free (remember moderation though!)
The Pomosa: So you’ve had your champagne and orange juice. Now try the Pomosa!
Take two parts of champagne and top it up with fresh pomegranate juice in a tall champagne flute and you are ready to roll!
This drink is rich in polyphenols and ellagic acid from pomegranates which helps in reducing skin inflammation, reverse sun damage and iron out wrinkles. Along with this pomegranate juice also blocks the formation of MMP’s or matrix metalloproteinases, which break down collagen and elastin.
Shochu and grapefruit twist: Try a little bit of the Far East with this Shochu and grapefruit twist. Shochu is a spirit from Japan which is quite similar to Vodka. However, the calories contained in Shochu are far lesser when compared.
Add all the ingredients in a high ball glass for your original oriental surprise.
This refreshing drink has a very high antioxidant content thanks to the high doses of Vitamin C and beta carotene from the grapefruit which rejuvenates your skin by repairing skin tissue and also protects against sun damage. The Vitamin C regenerates collagen production thus helping your skin look firm, young and beautiful.
The Aperol Spritz: The Aperol Spritz, though still quite unknown to the rest of the world, is a very famous Northern Italian drink. It is low in its alcohol content (remember, the higher the alcohol content the more the chances of skin redness, inflammation, blotchiness and break outs) and also gives additional skin support with the help of nutrients from the oranges.
Put all of this together in the order that is mentioned in a large wine glass and stir gently. Twist the orange to release the juices before adding to the drink. Plonk in a green olive if you desire and sip on Italian style!
Responsible drinking makes for good drinking. Always sip and not gulp down your drinks. And space your drinks by drinking two glasses of water for every one alcoholic beverage to keep your skin happy and hydrated!
We would love to hear your wellness packed party drinks! Write in 🙂
