Love it when I read a label on a beauty product that says, “Raw” & “Organic”. Do you find yourself doing the same? After all, we all want the best for our skin. At my friend’s place the other day, I saw her mom, who I must say looks ravishing for her age, cutting up a fruit and making a mask out of it- a beauty product right in the kitchen! Curious, I went to see the remnants of the product used- to my surprise they were avocados. Sipping green tea she told me more about this beauty-licious fruit!
Fruity Facial Cleanser –Avocados contain more ‘useful’ fat than other vegetables. They are high in omega oils and Vitamin E, both excellent for the skin. To make a mask which acts as a wonderful cleanser and super hydrates your skin, simply scoop out the fleshy portion of the cut fruit, mash it up with a fork and let it sit on your face for 15 minutes. Rinse off with water that’s at room temperature. Since the fruit is rich in oil content your skin stays supple naturally!
Younger Hands – Here’s a beauty secret for softer and more caressable hands. After you finish relishing the fruit use a spoonful flesh and mix it up with 1eggwhite, 1 tsp. oatmeal and 2 tsp. lemon juice and keep aside. Now take the coarse skin of the fruit and grind it. Scrub your hands gently with it. Then apply the prepared paste on your forehands and leave it on for about 15-20 minutes. Rinse off to discover smoother , youthful hands.
Dry skin soother -Pureeing the fruit of the avocado and applying it topically to the skin can replenish moisture, soften rough patches and help heal chapped skin. The fruit’s rich Vitamin A, C, E, iron niacin and potassium content hydrates and soothes the skin. An avocado mask works wonders-simply mix avocado puree with 1 tsp. olive oil. Apply this mask to the face and neck. Leave it on for 20 min. The oil is easily absorbed and the powerful emollient properties relieve dryness instantly. This mask helps relieve and soothe skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema.
Avocado diet -Centuries ago avocados were used for their anti fungal and antibacterial properties. Eating this wholesome fruit rich in healthy fats nourishes your brain, skin, hair all at the same time. The antioxidants present help in cell renewal and fight cancer cells.
It’s my turn to try the awesome “Avocados” work their skin magic. How do you use avocados in your skincare routine? Write in:)
