DIY Beauty Masks For Sensitive Skin

3

Sensitive skin demands a lot of loving. I have always had to pay a significant amount of attention to my temperamental sensitive skin. A little bit of neglect could lead to angry rashes, skin redness or break outs. In fact, one of the best ways to pamper sensitive skin is with the help of face masks. Gentle loving for your sensitive skin conveniently lies in your kitchen cabinet. Here are some fantastic face masks for your sensitive skin.

The oatmeal mask: One third cup of powdered oatmeal and one egg yolk mixed to a paste and applied on a clean face is a great recipe for cleansing and firming sensitive skin. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes and then rinse off with ice cold water.

Yogurt and oatmeal mask: 1 cup of natural yogurt and half a cup of powdered oatmeal work wonders to control irritation and help combat sun damage. Cleanse your skin thoroughly with a mild cleanser and apply this mask. Leave it on for 15 minutes and then wash off with cold water.

The rose clay mask: For skin that feels like silk, mix together 1 tablespoon of rose clay, 1 drop of rose oil, 1 drop of chamomile oil and 1 and 1/2 teaspoon of avocado oil. Use a little bit of rose water or plain water to turn this mix into a thick paste. Gently massage this paste on your skin and leave on for 5 minutes. Rinse off with some cold chamomile tea decoction and see your skin glow.

The wrinkle killer: For this ultimate wrinkle killer mask, you will need a little cider vinegar, some oats, rice flour and distilled water. Take a small saucepan and boil 1 tablespoon of oats with 2 tablespoons of distilled water. Once cooled, add 1 tablespoon of rice flour and 1 tablespoon of cider vinegar or more to achieve a thick paste. Apply and leave on for 15 minutes and rinse off with warm water. Follow it up with a hydrosol such as rose water or lavender water.  Use this mask once a week and see the difference in your skin.

Avocado mask: Try this mask if your sensitive skin is not prone to acne. Mash one ripe avocado and add 1 tbsp of honey and a little aloe vera and get an intensely hydrating mask. Leave this mask on for 15 minutes on squeaky clean skin and look rejuvenated.

Sensitive skin needs ingredients that are gentle and help calm the skin. Certain oils such as chamomile and lavender have an intensely calming effect on sensitive skin. But if your skin is very sensitive then always do a patch test of these oils on the back of your hand to see if there is any negative reaction. Sensitive skin can react to fragrances so be careful when you try anything containing either natural or synthetic fragrances.

Also stay away from steaming your sensitive skin too much as that too, can irritate your skin and cause it to get angry and red. Finally, don’t skip moisturizing because your skin is sensitive. Use a hypoallergenic water based moisturizer that is easily absorbed after you cleanse your skin.

Steaming sensitive skin leads to the problem of enlarged, open pores too. When my skin is sensitive, I let it breathe well- don’t apply makeup, don’t apply too many skin products (only a light SPF moisturizer), hydrate well.

Using natural organic plant oils is great for sensitive skin.
