Get Your Antioxidant Boost With Iced Tea

A wedge of zesty lemon, chilling ice cubes, and a fresh sprig of mint! Ah! The refreshing taste of an Iced tea can instantly rejuvenate you on a hot, sunny afternoon. The benefits of this refresher are many, the most important being the rush of antioxidants that come with it!

Antioxidants are your body’s mighty army fighting free radicals that can cause oxidative damage to your body cells. Iced tea has a high content of polyphenols- antioxidants that neutralize free radicals and promote longevity. It also contains tannins, which give the tea its antioxidant properties (and dark color). These tannins help in improving blood circulation, protect you from environmental pollutants, and possess antibacterial properties.

It’s obvious then that Iced tea is beneficial for the skin! The antioxidant content helps in reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, mimic wrinkles, and fights premature aging. It helps in skin regeneration, improved circulation of blood, improves the quality and health of the skin, revealing younger looking skin.

Here are three ways you can make your skin zing with your fav. refresher – at home!

Lemony-Minty Delight

Ingredients: 3-4 tea bags, Sugar/honey, Ice, 4 glasses of water, 3 tbsp. lemon juice, 2 sprigs of mint.

Prep: Measure out 1 ½ glass of water and boil it in a small pan. Turn off the heat and add the tea bags. Add 1 sprig of mint, cover and let it stand for 5 minutes. Strain the tea into a pitcher. Add the rest of the water, sugar/honey, and lemon juice and refrigerate. Serve in tall glasses with ice cubes and the mint sprig for garnishing.

 Pinked Iced Tea

Ingredients: 3-4 tea bags, 5 spoons of Castor Sugar, Ice, 4 glasses of water, 3 tbsp. lemon juice, 5-6 ripe strawberries, sprig of mint.

Prep: Make a glass of plain hot black tea. Dilute with the remaining water in a mixing glass bowl. Add the castor sugar and stir to dissolve and add in the lemon juice. Puree the strawberries, mash the puree through a fine sieve, and discard the pips. Once the tea has cooled, add the puree to the tea. Refrigerate. Serve in tall glasses with ice cubes and the mint sprig for garnishing.

Tropical Green Tea and Mango
