How To Keep Your Nose Glowing In Winter?

It’s the holiday season- there I hear “Rudolf the red nosed reindeer” floating in the air! Its fine calling Rudolf red nosed, but not me. Many a times what outshines my nose are the blackheads on it. Snowflakes are fun but my nose skin gets dry and flaky too. Here are simple tips to keep you looking nose-savvy:)

Adios blackheads: Blackheads are caused when sebum along with accumulated dirt and grease collects & hardens in the skin pores. The nose skin is more affected by this problem since the T- zone contains majority of sebaceous glands. For saying goodbye to blackheads use a gentle, water-soluble cleanser and a muslin cloth for exfoliation, rubbing lightly.  Avoid overly emollient moisturizers in blackhead-prone areas. Light fluid lotions or liquid skin-care products work best for blackhead prone skin. Use well-formulated, leave-on salicylic acid or beta hydroxy acid based exfoliators that are mild and gentle to your skin.

Bid Adieu to redness of the nose and flaky skin: A red nose could be a sign that you’ve got a cold or allergies. Repeated sneezing and nose-blowing with even the softest tissue doesn’t help. Red bruised skin on the nose isn’t an allergic reaction, it’s simply your body’s natural reaction to the constant friction. Apply Vitamin E gel capsover the sore, reddened areas to reduce redness. Constant rubbing of skin leads to dry flaky skin. To get back soft skin moisturize twice a day AM and PM with products that contain humectants, ingredients that help seal in the moisture in your skin. Products that contain petrolatum, alpha-hydroxy and hyaluronic acid will alleviate your flaky skin issues.

Good bye enlarged pores: Big, open pores are mostly genetic or a result of aging and sun damage. You may get enlarged pores with using incorrect products.Use oil free cleansers- the gentler options of glycolic acid cleansers like the alpha and beta hydroxy acid (AHA’s and BHA’s) cleansers and toners work well. Spa micro-dermabrasion helps in renewing the texture of open pores and shrinking them. Vitamin A enriched masks help. Retinol and Vitamin C based products work well as they help increase collagen & elastin production.

Singing Rudolf the red nosed reindeer in all’s its holiday fervor and splendor.

Happy Holidays:)
