Autumn- the sun’s started playing peek-a-boo Your long hours of sunny vacation seem like a dream. Is the changing season affecting your summer tan? Do you have to kiss your tanned look goodbye? After all, you worked pretty hard to look bronzed and beautiful!
Here are 3 ‘How To’s’ to look sun-kissed in autumn:
Prep your skin: Before you get going on your at home, DIY tanning ritual you need to prep your skin. Make a pre-tanning scrub by blending 2 tablespoons of manuka honey and baking soda with one tablespoon of virgin olive oil. Scrub your skin well before you apply your home made tanning lotion. This scrub removes your dead skin cells and makes your skin healthy which in turn helps the tan last longer.
The tea tanner: There’s a lot more you can do with tea than just drink it. Tea makes an excellent skin tanner without causing the skin any damage. Boil 3/4th cups of pure water and pour over 3 tea bags. You can use chamomile tea since chamomile soothes the skin and helps darken it naturally as well. Keep the tea bags steeped in this water for 10 minutes. Now add 1/4th of your tea concoction to half a cup of lanolin and ½ a cup of sesame oil. Blend all these ingredients together at the slowest speed adding the remaining tea gradually. Apply this concoction to your skin sparingly yet evenly in the morning and at night to sport that natural tan.
The cocoa blast: Cocoa makes another great at home tanning lotion. Take 1/4th cup of regular baking cocoa and mix it with your daily white moisturizer or lotion. Spread this evenly over your face and body. This mix does feel a little sticky so leave it on for fifteen minutes and then wipe it off with a soft dry cloth. If your skin is very oily then you can skip the moisturizer or lotion and make a pack with cocoa instead. Mix the cocoa powder with a little bit of water to make a paste. Apply on the skin and leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse off with cold water. This recipe not only gives your skin the sun tanned look but also cleanses the skin beautifully.
The coffee kick: Your morning cup of Joe can do a lot more than just give you that instant pick me up. To get that sun kissed tan all you need to do is make a coffee face pack. Mix a tablespoon of coffee with water and make a paste. Rub a squeezed out lemon on your face to prep your face for the tan and then apply this pack. Substitute the water with a little bit of olive or walnut oil if your skin is dry. Your skin will have a beautiful golden hue!
