Love These Honey Masks And Bid Adieu To Acne

Is there anyone here who has never experienced pimples, zits or an acne flare-up? Acne is a common skin condition seen both in teens and adults and presents itself as blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, zits, papules, scaly red skin and skin scarring. Skin bacteria play a huge role in the development of acne.

Enter Honey!  Honey is a strong anti- bacterial agent and has anti-inflammatory properties. It has a high potassium content that doesn’t allow acne bacteria to grow. Antioxidants present in honey give you clear, glowing skin. Honey is an occlusive hydrator- it pulls in moisture and retains it in your skin. Wow! this golden, sunny, sticky liquid has oodles of skin goodness 🙂

Here are 3 DIY honey masks that will help you bid adieu to acne:

Honey+ Cinnamon n’ Nutmeg mask:  Just mix one teaspoon each of grounded cinnamon, grounded nutmeg and honey together into a thick paste. Apply on your face for 20-30 minutes and then rinse off with warm water. Apply your moisturizer thereon.  The Cinnamon in this mask is a known antiseptic, astringent, anti-fungal and anti-viral agent. With its exfoliating action, cinnamon opens up your skin pores helping the other ingredients to work better. Nutmeg is recommended for its anti-inflammatory properties. Use this mask daily when ridden with an acne flare-up. Once your acne has calmed down you could use it 2 or 3 times in a week. If you have sensitive skin, this mask is not meant for you! Apply this mask gently. No rubbing and scrubbing recommended as the ingredients could hurt your skin.

Honey+ Milk n’ Lemon n’ Yogurt Mask: Mix two tablespoons of milk, two tablespoons of honey, one tablespoon of fresh yogurt to freshly squeezed juice of one lemon. Mix these together with necessary amount of tepid water to get a paste consistency. Apply some of this paste on your face and neck area. Allow it to dry. Then top it up with another layer of the paste. Repeat this layering till you use up the complete mixture. After 10 to 15 minutes rinse off with warm water. Milk, lemon and yogurt have excellent cleansing properties. When used in combination with honey this mask works wonderfully on your acne prone skin.

Honey+ Honey mask: It’s just pure honey here! You only need to use a brush or your fingers to apply organic honey to your face. Leave it on for 30-45 minutes; wash it off with warm water. Apply a moisturizer thereon. The stickiness of the honey draws out the dust, dead skin and microbes from the pores besides killing the acne bacteria. This mask softens your skin, reduces acne scars and gives you an instant glow.

In unison let’s say, “ Hello Honey- Goodbye Acne” 🙂

Thanks so much for these recipes!! I was a bit hesitant about the first mask because I don’t really like the smell of nutmeg, but now I will definitely try this :D. By the way, how long should it take for me to see the results of the nutmeg, cinnamon, and honey mask?
