May is the month for women all over the world to celebrate their health. The Women’s Health Month is an attempt to bring together families, communities, health organizations, businesses and governments to encourage and empower women towards simple daily hygiene and health care. It is dedicated to creating an understanding about women’s health issues, encouraging regular health check-ups, inform and educate women about the actions they can take to improve health and celebrating advancements in women’s health care.
The Venus’s are concerned about the way they look, the way they dress, their hair, their skin, that zit, the summer changes, the right makeup, and even the shape of their hairbrush. However, not many pay attention intimate hygiene and health.
A women’s intimate zone requires special care. The delicate bacterial flora that thrives in the vagina maintains a balance between the different strains of bacteria present. The intimate area also has a natural protective, acidic pH barrier keeping the pathogenic microorganisms in check. The smallest fluctuation in either internal or external intimate environment can disturb the pH balance and cause infections or rashes.
Every woman should be careful and aware of even the slightest changes and be educated about the right intimate care and hygiene.
Selecting the right material- Your intimate area is extremely delicate. Therefore, you have to be extremely careful with the cleansing materials you opt for. Using harsh products like fragrant soap, coarse sponges, or loofahs can cause irritation and rashes and in extreme cases reduced resistance to harmful bacteria.
As you do with the skin on your face, you should choose an appropriate intimate wash that suits your body. Sponges and loofahs should be cleaned well and replaced regularly.
Most importantly, use undergarments with natural fibers and avoid synthetic materials.
Maintain a balance- Not keeping yourself clean is harmful, whereas over-cleaning is bad too. Your body naturally maintains a balance between the good and bad bacteria and the acidic pH levels. Frequent use of soap, over-washing and even internal-cleansing can be harmful, leading to higher susceptibility of infections, dryness, and irritations.
The right way- While cleaning your intimate area, always wash from front to the back, to avoid spread of infections. Use cold water only. Pat dry the area with a clean soft, personal towel or toilet paper only. During menstruation, pregnancy and post pregnancy wash-up more often and avoid swimming pools and bathtubs.
Healthy hygiene = healthy skin= happy you 🙂
