College life is always exciting involving a fast-paced life where priorities can turn upside down without prior notice. You, as a college going student have to deal with the pressures of assignment submission dates and exams. These activities tend to increase your stress levels which is a common reason for getting skin problems. Most college students, you included, stop taking care of their skin when stressed which worsens their skin problems more. In order to stay clear of skin problems and get glowing, healthy skin, it is essential to incorporate some skincare rituals.
Here are six quick and easy skincare tips to help college students look skin happy!
Drink loads of water
Water is an important component of the human body. It hydrates the whole body and improves skin cell development that signifies healthy skin. The best solution to consume high amounts of water is to keep a refillable water bottle nearby and take quick sips during classes throughout the day.
Give a fresh start to your face
Washing your face creates a smooth canvas for applying moisturizers. A well cleansed face allows the moisturizer to seep into the skin making it look soft. Also, clean your makeup off before going to bed. Makeup tends to settle into the skin and creates a breeding ground for bacteria to grow on. When in a hurry, use facial wipes to remove grime and makeup.
Avoid alcohol and cigarettes
Alcohol and cigarettes are known to make the skin dry and prematurely age. Its advised that you quit smoking and drinking. Avoid places with second-hand smoke.
Avoid eating pizza and opt for salads
Even though eating a pizza, fatty foods and chocolates may not cause acne directly, having them every day is not good for your body and your skin. It’s observed that college going students tend to binge on unhealthy foods during their late night parties with friends. Instead of completely stopping consumption of these foods, have them sometimes and include healthy fruits and vegetables in your regular diet. Enjoy both worlds 🙂
Use sunscreen, it’s not optional
Skin protection from the harmful sun’s rays is very important. Its essential to apply sunscreen before stepping out in the sun. Use sunscreen on a rainy day and a cold day too. You can double task by using a SPF containing moisturizer.
Clean your mobile phone
Your cell phone is a breeding area for bacteria when it is repeatedly held up against your skin for long periods of time. These bacteria tend to spread all over the face leading to breakouts. To avoid this, wipe your mobile phone every day and reduce the chances of getting blemishes. It’s better to use an ear piece so as to avoid direct contact between the cell phone and the skin.
Keep a ‘must-have’ beauty kit with you at all times to take care of any skincare emergencies. Things to include in your kit are face cleanser, toner, day and night moisturizer, acne spot treatment, body wash and skin lotion.
Enjoy college with a happy skin 🙂
