What an exciting Sunday it’s been! April 22nd, 9.00 am: I reached the Jacob Javits Convention Center bright and early to begin my role as one of the exclusive beauty bloggers at The International Esthetics, Cosmetics and Spa Conferences( IECSC) and International Beauty Show, New York (IBSNY)!
The classes at the show truly sounded remarkable. I had a tough time picking the one to attend, so I made it to several. It was wonderful to attend The Medical Spa class on Bio-identical hormones by Dr. Julia Hunter MD. She’s such a friendly, knowledgeable and experienced person. I was elated to meet Bonnie Canavino, Red Cherry Group, who gave us an insightful talk on the importance of nutritional skincare marrying organics and high science. She spoke on how nutritional skin care is critical in supporting maximum cosmeceutical response.
At the exhibit floor, the color, the energy was so palpable at IECSC, this year. I visited booths, talked to brands on skincare and beauty, got a mini-facial done, took copious notes, met so many interesting people… and my day just whizzed by! For a food-o-holic like me it was a day to feast on skincare products, cosmetics and beauty! Just didn’t get the time nor the pangs for real food:) Some trends I noticed on the IECSC exhibit floor are:
- A lot more products lines this year are leaning towards organic and natural
- Many more products claim to be dermaceuticals and cosmeceuticals rather than just skincare products
- Non-toxic ingredients in skincare is big!
- Biodegradable products are slowly coming into focus; beauty companies are doing their bit to save the Earth
- pheromone enhanced spa products
- A lot of brands are emphasizing the need for more education of estheticians

And I interacted with a knowledge power house and educational whiz on skincare – Laura, CEO of VMV Hypoallergenics. This lady rocks! She shared some awesome information on hypoallergenics and photo allergens. We’ll soon be doing a video interview with her too! Keep watching this space.
Its been one memorable Sunday- I came back home all tired, hungry, wet (NY weather gods haven’t been too kind in the past few days) and beat BUT enlightened with more than the beauty and skincare knowledge my brain could absorb! It was one amazing show, to say the least!
Cheers! And stay tuned for more…
