mySkin had the privilege of attending IBS and IECSC (International Esthetics Cosmetics and Spa Conference) earlier this month. Over 53,000 salon owners, hair stylists, makeup and nail artists, skin care and beauty entrepreneurs, students, teachers and other industry professionals witnessed trends and newness before appearing in retail boutiques, online and in the press. What a sight to see! It was amazing to partake in the magic behind this monumental and influential occasion. Your colleagues, favorite chef, TV personality and neighbor perform a daily skin regimen with brands both domestic and global. What girl wouldn’t love to meet the people behind the scenes and preview the next best thing!
Educational classes, hair and makeup technique performances, hair cutting competitions in addition to product and service providers took over the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center for three days. Chilly and rainy spring weather gave me the flu, so I waited till Monday to explore. By 8:00am tons of taxi cabs produced traffic from dropping exhibitors and participants off at the 11th Avenue entrance. Once inside, I obtained the press badge plus a fancy color coded wristband and went to work.
I attended these exciting classes:
Using Social Media to Build Community and Increase Revenue

Marketing Brand You
Oxidants, Antioxidants, and Skin Aging: Separating Fact from Fiction
The Organic Way: Treating Acne, Rosacea and Eczema with Natural Ingredients

Each session had wonderful participation with learnings galore. There was immense liveliness at almost every booth. The shows were full of spectators and one exhibitor even had a Britney Spears impersonator, who danced and sang Monday evening.
This was a great platform to find familiar faces of bloggers, beauty mavens and other social networkers.
I got a few samples, was almost recruited to be a hair model, purchased items at discounted prices and received beauty services for free!
