An early arrival allowed mySkin to witness behind the scene preparation for The Beauty Party NYC. Held at The Cabinet in Brooklyn, a golden yellow door lead participants in to this all day conference. Its purpose was to ‘empower, educate and celebrate’ professionals, students and others about the beauty, skin care and technology industries. Authors, green beauty experts, project consultants, empowerment coaches, bloggers, innovators in technology and artists with start up and small ventures engaged in thirty to sixty minute workshops. The attendees shared similar experiences with every presenter making the atmosphere perfect for dialogue, as people revealed strategies and secrets for successful partnerships go forward. Colorful decor including fresh fruit and other treats were available to everyone. Ladies (and a few gentlemen) mingled before, during and after each session, making sure to connect with each other. The space was intimate and inviting, as you’ll see in our Facebook album.
mySkin was fortunate to present ‘Technological Innovations in Skin Care’ and talk in more detail about ‘an innovative skin health measurement system. Armed with this knowledge, mySkin empowers you to make better decisions on product purchases via a social media platform. You can share and get information about your skin and know what products work best for you’.
We also secured video and voice interviews with four women whose work experiences revolve around educating, empowering and celebrating others. Heather Hodges, the force behind The Beauty Party NYC consumed herself with conceptualizing and executing this gathering since early 2010. She disclosed her journey of starting cosmetology school which then led to winning a national title in 2007. Heather’s presentations for the day included introductions about each workshop, ‘Beauty and the Social Media Beast’ plus ‘5 Questions Answered’, a more in depth discussion on her career and accomplishments.
Next up we shared plenty of laughs outside with Desiree Frieson, who’s responsible for the Blogger’s Soiree. mySkin attended this social in December 2010 and wrote a feature, with pictures on the non-profit occasion. Desiree is a contributor to Red Rover Style, Lifestyle & Charity, Her Journey Magazine, a social media expert and volunteer. Amidst the wind that almost blew us away, we spent ten minutes talking about what ‘unbiased’ skin care and beauty means to her as well as daily routines to stay looking and feeling beautiful.
During intermission, Shana Jeannot of Bru Communicate, an independent PR, Marketing and Branding firm, spoke to us about learnings from the day and the role ‘unbiased’ skin care plays in her life. Shana also taught us a lesson on why its mandatory to involve public relations in all business decisions.
Last but not least, Ungenita Prevost offered the final workshop, titled ‘Building Your Beautylicious Business’. She encouraged everyone to perform a ‘mindset makeover’, to not let fear hold you back from accomplishments plus she stressed the importance of increasing your self worth. As an empowerment coach who provides guidance to other artists regarding business deals and budgeting finances, Ungenita was a delight to meet. We had a great conversation about ‘unbiased’ skin care and were thankful she flew from Los Angeles to present at The Beauty Party NYC.
