Awaken your complexion with everyone’s favorite stimulant. Whether a key component of your morning ritual or favorite afternoon energy boost, coffee makes an appearance in most peoples’ daily lives. But what can it do for skin? A ton, apparently. So sweep up those leftover coffee grounds and start cooking up some DIY beauty treatments.
Coffee is loaded with anti-oxidants that fend off free radicals and help prevent premature signs of aging. Caffeine is a natural anti-inflammatory, so it can reduce puffiness and darkness around the eyes (that’s why you’ll find it on the ingredient list of many eye creams).
Coffee can also exfoliate and tone skin, even reducing the appearance of cellulite (temporarily). If you have a swimsuit-donning winter vacation planned, whip up a batch of coffee body scrub and take it with you so your winter-ravaged skin will glow like a Brazilian beach bum. Here’s a delicious recipe that takes about 5 minutes to prepare:
1 Cup Ground Coffee
2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
7 Tablespoons Coconut Oil
Combine the three ingredients in bowl until consistent and smooth. Then, transfer the mixture to a resealable jar or travel bottle.
