DIY mask for Spring Skin

The transition to spring can be tough on skin.  Warmer weather causes skin to be oilier which is especially tough for oily and combination skin.  Getting a facial to help clear and reset your skin leading into the new season is a great idea.  If you don’t have time or budget to get a professional facial, then give yourself a facial at home.  We don’t know about you, but we always end up with at least one banana that needs to be used or thrown away.  Take advantage of that banana to make a great mask!

Banana Mask for Oily Skin

 How it helps: This mask helps to soothe oily complexions

 Skin types: Best for oily, acne-prone or combination skin types.

 What you need: 1 ripe banana, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 orange or lemon.

 How to make it: Mash up the banana, then mix in the honey. For best results, put the ingredients in a blender. Add a few drops of juice from an orange or a lemon. Apply to face for 15 minutes before rinsing with a cool washcloth or a steaming warm washcloth. Follow with your regular moisturizer.

Why is it good for skin:

Bananas are packed with antioxidant rich vitamins that are great for skin.  Vitamin E is known to fight free radical damage and the appearance of wrinkles, vitamin A  gets rid of dark spots and blemishes and Vitamin B helps moisturize and lighten skin.  In addition, the potassium in bananas helps fight dryness on skin.

Honey can kill bacteria on pimples and help to purify skin.

Lemon Juice  can help diminish dark spots and blemishes as well as even out discoloration.

And remember: Even if you don’t like bananas, bananas love your skin.
