The hype around gluten-free diet has been around for a while. Why should you go gluten-free and how to do it?

Gluten-free diet is great for people suffering from gluten intolerance, coeliac disease and similar conditions. But gluten-free food can be a great choice on days when you simply don’t feel like eating grains such as wheat. So, while some folks have to eat gluten-free food because of their health conditions, it’s great for everyone to make a gluten-break every once in a while.

So here are some great tips for gluten-free diet:

  1. Find your favorite substitute: If you want to go gluten-free, remember not all grains are off limits! Quinoa, corn, polenta, teff, amaranth, rice, chia – these are just some out of plenty naturally gluten-free grains that are absolutely delicious!
  2. Watch out for alcohol: It might have slipped your mind, but some alcoholic beverages like beer often contain gluten. Read the labels carefully and look for a gluten-free solution or opt for a drink that’s naturally gluten-free, like cider or wine.
  3. Mind your soups and sauces: Soups and sauces are the biggest sources of hidden gluten, so this is another case where you need to pay close attention to the labels, especially if the soup/ sauce are creamy.

Gluten-free diet can be as delicious as the one including gluten, since there are thousands of amazing recipes to try and experiment with. However, it’s an essential choice only for those who indeed suffer from gluten intolerance. For everyone else, it’s a lifestyle choice and a personal preference – one you don’t have to be particularly strict about.
